New moon yoga sequence1/9/2023 Just be sure to warm up your spine with Cat/Cow postures and Sun Salutations before you begin - many of these poses are big heart openers and lengthening backbends to help you create space. You can perform these poses as a sequence, or on their own as part of your own practice. Yoga helps to release tension stored in the subtle, energetic body, so that you can open yourself up to receive all the celestial gifts the full moon has to offer. With tonight’s full moon (June 2) falling in Sagittarius, it’s also a time to harness your inner adventurer and bring forth your bold and fearless self. YOGA VINYASA YOGA - BEGINNER AND ADVANCED. The Moon Salutation is most often and traditionally practised when the moon is visible, and in particular when there is a new moon or full moon. The sequence moves sideways on the mat, as opposed to forwards and backwards like in the Sun Salutation, and the movements are practised slowly with each pose co-ordinated with your breath. Try this Warrior flow sequence where you begin to use a powerful releasing exhalation as you aim the fire of love and let you arrow go To you I bow. The Moon Salutation has a wonderful cyclical pattern to it where you go through the sequence and complete it by doing all the poses in reverse to make up one round. Without one, we would not appreciate the other. It is present in everything around us - day and night, light and dark, happy and sad. These opposite forces of Yin and Yang help us to balance our energy and create harmony in our minds, bodies and lives. Practicing a moon salutation instead of the classic sun salutation is a great way to honour the full moon in your yoga practice. Moon Salutations are a Yin practice that is cooling, quieting and relaxing. Sun Salutations are a Yang practice that is heating, stimulating and energising. You might be very familiar with Sun Salutations, but what about its lesser known sister, Moon Salutations, or Chandra Namaskar? In Sanskrit, Chandra means moon, and it is the perfect sequence to balance out your Yang energy.
